WHAT ABOUT DEMOGRAPHY AND MIGRATION?

Tajikistan is in stage two of the Demographic Transition Model. This implies that the country has experienced a decline in mortality rates, but still maintains high birth rates. This stage is usually associated with a transition to a more industrialized and urbanized society, with improvements in health care and education.

CBR = 28
CDR = 7
NIR = 1.36%

Tajikistan's birth rate is high, with a total birth rate of approximately 28 births per 1,000 population. However, a decline in the birth rate has also been observed in recent years due to factors such as urbanization, limited access to health services and education, and the emigration of women of reproductive age.

The mortality rate is approximately 7 deaths per 1,000 population. This can be attributed to factors such as poverty, lack of access to adequate medical care, and infectious diseases.

As a result of a high birth rate and a significant mortality rate, Tajikistan experiences positive natural growth, with a natural growth rate of about 1.36%. However, this rate has decreased compared to previous years due to the factors mentioned above.

The government of Tajikistan has implemented programs and measures to address the demographic challenges facing the country. These include initiatives to improve maternal and child health care, promote family planning and access to contraceptive methods, as well as to promote reproductive health education and awareness.

In terms of migration patterns, Tajikistan has experienced both internal and international migration. Tajikistan has a net migration of -1.02 as Many Tajiks have migrated to other countries, especially Russia, in search of economic opportunities and employment but it is negative because there are not entering migrants to Tajikistan. International migration has been driven by factors such as lack of employment and poverty in the country of origin, as well as the demand for labor in destination countries. Tajikistan has also experienced internal migration, with people moving from rural to urban areas in search of better living conditions and employment.
